A plan to bring an Olympic-sized swimming pool to the Capital Region just got a million dollar boost.
It’s an anonymous donation and the largest to date for the Adirondack Aquatic Center.
As NewsChannel 13 told you during the 2016 Rio Olympics, the goal is to have this state of the art facility up and running in time for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. It will be built off Route 67 in Malta with four pools, including a 50-meter Olympic size pool.
Right now, swimmers have to train out of the area to prepare for the Olympics.
It would also attract bigger swimming competitions and that could be a big boost for the local economy.
